Welcome to day 14 of 31 Awesome Days of Fall Activities With Your Kids. Today I’m going to share 10 Reasons to Visit a Pumpkin Patch With Your Kids. This year we’ve been either busy or the weather has been terrible every weekend so far! We have a couple of chances left to visit a pumpkin patch before the season ends.
The photos I’m sharing in this post are from a visit to a nearby pumpkin patche in 2016. My daughter had so much fun, and it was a delight to watch her enjoy herself. I really hope we can make it back this year!
Below is my list of reasons to visit a pumpkin patch. Every pumpkin patch has different activities, so of course, the below may not be available at a pumpkin patch near you. But this will give you an idea of what pumpkin patches offer if you have never been. It’s not just about picking out and buying a couple of pumpkins!
10 Reasons to Visit a Pumpkin Patch with Your Kids
- Ride a pony! This was so much fun for my daughter. It was a new experience for her and she really loved it. I’m just glad she didn’t ask for a pony after the ride.
2. Bounce on a big ball. There were a lot of different activities for kids at the pumpkin patch. This was one my daughter liked and was age appropriate for her.
3. Walk on a bunch of hay bails. Your kids could also jump from bail to bail like I did as a kid, but if your child is younger like mine was, they may need a little help. She had no fear of the height and felt like she was one of the big kids.
4. Ride a Train. This wasn’t exactly a train, but it was close enough. What kid wouldn’t like a train ride?
5. Drive a tractor or ride a hayride. This was just a pretend tractor, but she played on this for a long time.
6. Take a fun photo. She is such a little poser! Have your kids pose in front of fun signs or with the pumpkins. They make really cool photo props.
7. Hold a rabbit. A lot of Pumpkin Patches have petting zoos. This is a great opportunity to pet or hold small animals. My daughter always enjoys interacting with animals the most when we do any activity like this. She is a big animal lover.
8. Pet some animals. Of course, my daughter loved this part of our journey a lot! Soft, cute, and furry animals are pretty irresistible to children.
9. Play in a pit of corn. This is so important sensory activity for little ones. My daughter threw her whole body into it!
10. Pick out a pumpkin or two. Let your child pick out a pumpkin to take home and decorate. You can read our post about Pumpkin Decorating for tips and ideas.
