I started using Essential Oils a couple of years ago when I was introduced to the brand, Young Living. I love all the options for DIY there are with Essential Oils, including many health benefits. My biggest issue was the price of quality oils! As a frugal mom, I am always looking for a way to save money. That’s when I discovered Edens Garden, an affordable essential oils option. Their oils are unadulterated, free of synthetics and entirely pure at reasonable prices! I was extremely excited to try out Edens Gardens essential oils. I have to say that I was thrilled with their products! My favorite way to use them is in a diffuser in my youngest daughter’s room. I bought a small cheap diffuser on Amazon a couple of years ago to start off with. We still have that diffuser and use it every night in her bedroom. You can find the diffuser I bought here.
I wanted to share a few DIY Essential Oil products that we use and have had success with. As I said before, my favorite way to use them is in a diffuser. These are the oils we have tried and enjoyed. You can find all of them on Edens Garden’s website.
Oils I have tried
- Age Defy– one of Edens Garden synergy oils, it contains Frankincense, Sandalwood, Lavender, Myrrh, Helichrysum, and Rose. Mix a few drops with a carrier oil such as Camellia oil. A natural way to fight aging skin. Why use the creams with all the chemicals you can’t pronounce? And who knows where they came from?
- Massage Therapy – another synergy oil with a mix of Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang, Helichrysum, Blue Tansy, Chamomile, and Osmanthus. I mixed a few drops of massage therapy with Sweet Almond carrier oil. This oil will calm your sense and ease sore muscles. My husband gives a great massage. When he uses the massage therapy oil with the sweet almond carrier oil, it is heaven!
- Aphrodisiac – a synergy blend. Place this oil in your diffuser when you’re wanting to perk a little romance in the bedroom. This oil smells amazing in the diffuser. To me, it has a sexy manly smell. We took this with us on our anniversary, and the results (along with a hot tub and some wine) were amazing!
- Sleepy Head – another synergy blend that is part of their Children’s line. It contains Lavender, Cedarwood, Frankincense, Tangerine, Petitgrain, Ylang Ylang, Sweet Marjoram, Roman Chamomile. We put this in my youngest daughter’s diffuser almost every night. It is such a relaxing scent.
- Sniffles & Sneezes – a synergy blend. We use this in the house when anyone has sniffles & sneezes. It seems to ease up when we place it in the diffuser and let it run all day. I will run this at night in my daughter’s room when she has the sniffles and sneezes.
- Home Aromatherapy Set– This is a 6 piece set that comes with Aroma Fresh, Citrus Cream, Grapefruit, Lavender, Sweet Ambiance and Sweet Orange. These oils have several uses. You can place any of them in your diffuser for a fresh clean smell. I’ve used these for DIY cleaning and DIY Poopouri. See these DIY recipes below.
- Lemon – is great for cleaning. My favorite way to use it is to put 2-5 drops on a wet cloth and wipe my kitchen counters down. This leaves my kitchen smelling so clean and fresh. There are lots of DIY cleaning products with lemon essential oil in it that I have not tried yet. You can find all kinds of DIY on Edens Garden website.
- Shine – a synergy blend containing Lavandin, Lavender, Sandalwood, Tangerine, Melissa, Ylang Ylang, Elemi, Osmanthus and Lemon Myrtle essential oils. Energizing and revitalizing, its floral and sweet aroma captivates the senses and inspires strength. This smells great running in a diffuser.
Carrier Oils
- Camellia Oil – I use this carrier oil with a few drops of Age Defy and rub it into my face and neck at night. Leaves my skin feeling smooth and smelling great.
- Sweet Almond Oil – I’ve mixed this with a few drops of Massage Therapy and rubbed into aching muscles. Great for easing muscles aches and pains.
DIY with Essential Oils
There are so many fantastic uses for Essential Oils, along with the ideas I mentioned above! I plan to try a lot more. For now, I will share the ones I have tried, I really enjoy, and use nearly every day.
Hand Sanitizer
I work at a hospital (not patient care) and I use this several times a day. So much better for your hands than the alcohol-based sanitizer. You can buy new bottles to mix it up in, or you can recycle squeeze bottles you already have at home.
- 4 oz of aloe vera gel
- 22 drops tea tree oil
- 14 drops of lavender (or peppermint or sweet orange)
- Mix well in a squeeze bottle. Apply liberally to hand and rub until the gel has evaporated.
Poo-Pourri Spray
I use this with my youngest a lot. We just spray it into the toilet before she goes to poop. She usually requests that we spray it before she goes to potty. You can even take it with you and use it anywhere. It really works! You can recycle old spray bottles, or buy new ones. I’ve made this as gifts and bought new spray bottles, but I use recycled bottles at home.
- 4 oz Spray bottle
- 40 drops of Shine (or any other essential oil combination that you like)
- 1 tsp witch hazel or alcohol
- Top of with distilled water.
- Shake well each time you use. Spray 3-6 times in toilet before each use.
What are you favorite essential oils and what is your favorite way to use them?
