What to Use your clothespins for

I use clothespins clips for a lot of things in my home, but not for my clothes!  I would say I mostly use them in my kitchen.  I clip chips, bags of noodles, bags of rice, beans, frozen vegetables, frozen pizza rolls, etc.  The second most common place I use them is for my garden supplies.  I clip up bags of dirt, rock, seeds, mulch, you get the picture. These clips are great for closing all of your bags. I have also made my clothespin into magnets to hang important papers, photos, or kids artwork on the fridge.

What You Need for Pretty Glitter Pins

I decided it would be fun for my daughter and me to decorate clothespin clips with some of the art supplies I already had on hand.   Here’s what you will need:

  • Wooden clothespins, you can get a small package of them for a dollar at Dollar General
  • Glitter glue or glitter and glue (clear glue works great)
  • Duct tape
  • Bling (optional)
  • Strong Magnet (for the fridge magnet pins)

With the glitter glue, we made several thick stripes down the clothespins, making sure the stripes are touching, and you can not see the wood of the pin.  Then we put them aside to dry overnight.  The next day, we did the other side, or you can just leave it plain.  You can also use clear glue and glitter.  Just put the glue on the clothespin, then sprinkle the glitter on until covered.  Let dry overnight and shake off any excess.

What You need for Duct Tape Pins

With the duct tape, we pulled the duct tape from the roll, lay the clothespins on the sticky side of the tape, and cut around it so it will fit the clothespin.  We did both sides.  It is a simple and pretty project!

Add Some Bling

After that, if you want to add bling, I just hot glue that on (my daughter is too young to handle the hot gun).  You will have to wait until the next day to do the glitter pins, but you can do the duct tape pins immediately.  You can stop here, or scroll down for instructions on adding a magnet.

Add a Magnet

You will need strong magnets to add to the back of your clothespins.  I used E600 Glue because it holds up to heavyweight.  They really come in handy to hold papers, photos, and pictures on the fridge.
