Save Money With a Packed Lunch
Packed lunch tips! Packing a lunch can save you so much money! Rather it is for work or for your child’s school lunch, you can shave off several dollars a day. I will have to admit, my daughter’s school lunches are worth the money. They are quite affordable and she will eat almost anything, but I can still save money by packing her lunch. I am very blessed that she is not a picky eater. There are a few kids in her class that are picky eaters or they have allergies and cannot tolerate certain foods. My daughter sees them bring their lunches and wants to bring hers too. So, occasionally we pack a lunch for her. I think she likes taking her cute lunch box most of all.
School Lunch
When I was in 7th grade I got food poisoning from the school lunch. From 7th through 8th grade I brought my lunch every single day after that. I did not eat lunch in the cafeteria again until I moved over to the High School. In those Jr. High days I packed lots of canned pudding (does that reveal my age? lol!), sandwiches and Chef Boyardee Ravioli. I had home ec before lunch, so I was able to warm up my food in the microwave before I ate lunch in the cafeteria.
My daughter is too young to warm up her lunch, so we mostly pack foods that stay cool with an ice pack. With technology today, you can take a warm lunch too, without the use of a microwave. There are lots of great thermoses to keep your food warm until lunch time. You can easily send leftovers such as stews, spaghetti, or soups. We have not sent a thermos yet, but once the weather cools off I want to send one to school for her to try.
Easy and Healthy Tips for Your Kids Packed Lunch
We packed her lunch for school yesterday and she informed me exactly what she wanted in her lunch box. Funny thing, she did not ask for a single sweet. I packed a ham and cheese sandwich, cut in half, corn chips, cheese stick, and pickles (homemade by the two of us). Lunch doesn’t have to be hard to pack. Most kids don’t need much. You can pack a drink too. I usually pack apple juice or water, because those are two of her favorite drinks.

Conclusion
I enjoy packing my daughter’s lunch occasionally. Would I want to do it every day? Probably not, but I would if I had to. It’s nice to know what she’s eating each day and how much she eats (because she brings every scrap of leftover home. lol!). What do you pack for your own lunch or your children’s lunch?
