Cheap DIY Coasters

I recently rearranged and deep cleaned our living room. Our coasters for our drinks were looking bad. So, I began looking for a way to make some new coasters for my living room. I wanted to use something that I had on hand at home. I did not want to spend extra money on a new set of coasters.

Wine Cork Craft

As I was roaming the house trying to come up with a great idea for a set of coasters, I came across my collection of wine corks. Perfect for up cycled wine cork coasters.

Wine Cork Project Supplies

This is a very simple craft. You only need two things. 8 wine corks (for each coaster) and a hot glue gun with glue sticks.

Upcycled Wine Cork Tips

I got out my glue gun and got to work.
I sorted out my wine corks by size and design.
With one coaster I went with similar writing on the corks.
With my second coaster, I went with corks that had the same writing.
Then I did a coaster with blank wine corks.
Work on a surface that you don’t mind getting glue on. Or lay something down to protect your work surface.

Recycled Wine Corks DIY

First, you need to decide which wine corks you want to use.
Lay them out in the design you desire. If they have words, make sure the words are facing in the same direction.
With the pattern I chose, I glued two corks together in groups.
Then I connected the four groups of two corks together.
As you glue your corks together, make sure to press on them with your hand so that they will dry as a flat surface. You do not want wobbly coasters. =)
Once the glue cools, you can flip over the corks and add extra hot glue on the back to help secure them.
