How to Make a Simple Squishy Ball With Water Beads

Welcome to Day 14 of 31 Awesome Days of Fall Activities With Your Kids.  Today my daughter and I are showing you How to Make a Simple Squishy Ball With Water Beads.  This activity is easy and puts together quickly, once the beads have expanded.  My daughter got a kick out of putting the beads in the balloon.  Watching her laugh and enjoy this activity made me glad that we tried it out.

  • Fine motor skills
  • Counting
  • Colors
  • Measuring

Supplies

  • Water beads

Directions

  • First, you will need to prepare your water beads.  Pour 1 tsp water beads into the empty water bottle and add 2 cups of water (follow the directions that come with your water beads for best results).
  • We already had our water beads expanded, so we added them to the water bottle.  This is great for fine motor skills for your child!
  • We filled our water bottle about 3/4 of the way with the water beads.  You can do more or less.

  • Blow your balloon up about halfway. Then you will put it on the opening of the water bottle.  You will lose a little bit of air, but that’s ok.
  • Next, squeeze your water bottle multiple times to force the beads into the balloon.  This is perfect to build strength in little one’s hands.
  • Tie the end of the balloon.
  • Now your squishy ball is complete.
  • Squeeze it!  A great object for sensory play and hand strength.
