Welcome to Day 23 of 31 Awesome Days of Fall Activities With Your Kids. Today we are going to show you How to Make a Very Simple 3D Paper Pumpkin. This is a simple decorative craft project that almost anyone can make, even my 5-year-old, with some help from me. What I love about this activity is that it can be very pretty decor for any home.
What your child will learn.
- Creativity
- Fine Motor Skills
- Color coordination
- Cutting Shapes
Supplies
- Card Stock – your choice of color or colors
- Scissors
- Glue
- Cutting tool – I have a creative memories cutting tool that makes circles. You could also trace a circle to create your circles for the pumpkin.
Instructions
- Cut several circles (I cut 6, you can do more, it really depends on how you want your pumpkin to look.) I cut the circles, but if your kids are old enough, let them do it.
- Cut a tiny bit off the bottom off of all circles, so that they will stand up when your project is complete. Make sure they are all even.
- Fold each circle in half.
- Glue each half to another half. Continue gluing until you have made a circle, then glue the last two halves together.
- Take a piece of green or brown cardstock and cut into a strip about 3 inches long. I take my scissors and run the strip of paper across the blade 2 or three times until it curls. It’s just like when you curl a ribbon for Christmas gifts. Put a little bit of glue on one end and slip it in between the circles, squeezing the papers together so the stem will hold.
Tip
Make sure to use cardstock, regular scrapbook paper will be too thin and will look bumpy with the glue.
